Point Of Danger by Irene Hannon

Exciting

Point Of Danger by Irene Hannon is a marvellous Christian crime suspense that had me glued and intrigued from the start. It is the first book in the Triple Threat series which promises to be fantastic.

The characters were wonderfully and realistically drawn. I loved the leading lady with her big heart and gutsy nature. She looked out for others, putting them first. She had a loving, caring relationship with her two sisters. She also looked out for the underdog.

Throughout the novel we ‘hear’ snippets of text from two of the perpetrators. It is up to the reader to see if they can solve the case before the police.

The plotline was intricate and well thought out. I followed all the red herrings that were dropped along the way – again!

Trial And Error by Robert Whitlow

He Leaves The Ninety Nine

Trial And Error by Robert Whitlow is a marvellous Christian contemporary legal suspense that will consume from the start.

The main theme of the novel is searching. There is a physical search which reminds the reader that God searches for each and every one of us. He does not stop until we are found. He pursues us relentlessly, longing to envelop us in His love.

The theme of fathers links into the searching theme. We see fathers looking for their daughters with a passion that drives them forwards. This mirrors God’s search for us.

We sometimes let words spoken, either by ourselves or others, define us. We believe we are the labels we wear but our heavenly Father says we are so much more – we are His and we are loved unconditionally.

The Forgotten Orphan by Glynis Peters

Courage And Tenacity

The Forgotten Orphan by Glynis Peters is a heart wrenching historical tale that consumed me from the start. It is set during World War II in an orphanage near Southampton. It is a tale of remarkable courage and strength.

The novel follows Maisie, a young girl who has been at the orphanage since she was four years old. We witness her tenacity to endure all things with a smile and a gentle heart. She is a delightful and realistic main character.

The reader sees the cruelty and damage that words spoken over us do to our spirit. We believe what others tell us. “Maisie was a waste of precious funds… had resigned herself to the ranks of the unwanted.” It is heart breaking to see a broken spirit.

World War II was a dreadful time. The bombs rained down on Southampton. As a sea port it received the maimed and the dying. As buildings are repurposed, Maisie finds her raison d’etre. “I want to help the poor broken men who have been brought to us to learn to live again.”
