Until I Love Again by Jerry Eicher

Be True To Yourself

untilUntil I Love Again by Jerry Eicher is a wonderful Amish romance. It is the second book in the St Lawrence County Amish series but can be read as a stand-alone.

The Amish and Englisha worlds collide within the novel creating a palpable tension. Susanna, on her rumspringa is torn between her Amish upbringing and the pull of the Englisha world.  “A woman’s place is in the home, and not out in the Englisha worlde.” Jerry Eicher shows how these totally opposite cultures can cause conflict and distress within the family. “I’m trying to make peace with my heritage.” It is hard to be true to yourself and to obey your parents who love you.

Undercover by Danielle Steel

Parallel Lives

undercoverUndercover by Danielle Steel is a contemporary romantic thriller and I enjoyed it. The action moves from America to Argentina, Paris and London. It moves at quite a pace and the reader marvels at the locations – as diverse as the jungle and the White House.

Undercover tells the parallel stories of Marshall and Ariana. They live worlds apart but have similar experiences. They are both in the world but do not feel at home in the place they inhabit. “He felt like a stranger in his own country.” Both are seeking for a place to call home. “She was no longer sure where home was.” The novel explores this search to belong. “He felt like he had been sucked into a vacuum and was hanging in space between two worlds.”

Decoy by Joy Ohagwu

Be Still

decoyDecoy by Joy Ohagwu is a Christian murder mystery and try as I might, I could not guess the outcome! It is the first book in the Elliot Kings series.

The novel shows the importance of persistent prayer. “Haunt Heaven’s doors day and night until God intervenes.” There are times when all we can do is cry out to Jesus. We need to remember to listen and be obedient to Him too. “God had said to take the job.”

Prayer is not just for times of crisis. We should pray at all times. “She sent a prayer of gratitude to God.” Prayer is just talking to God. It is part of being in a relationship with God.

Decoy shows that we need to know God’s word so that in times of crisis we can remember the promises of God. “I hold on to His Word.”

A Husband For Holly by Marion Ueckermann

Taking A Chance
