The Path To The Sea by Liz Fenwick

Love And Passion And Loyalty

The Path To The Sea by Liz Fenwick is an epic tale of love and loss, truth and lies, and loyalty. The reader is in for  a real treat as we are whisked away to the brooding landscape that is the Cornish coast.

The novel is set in 1962 and 2018. The action is seen from the point of view of three generations of women. They are united not only by their common history but by their family characteristics. The women are all strong characters but haunted by their pasts. Some things are best kept hidden, whilst others need to come to light. “Missing what she could barely remember.”

A deathbed confession awakens a curiosity in both the characters and the reader. We long to dig deeper as we go on a journey in tandem with the characters, almost dreading what we may discover.

The Art Of Deception by Louise Mangos

Innocence vs Experience

The Art Of Deception by Louise Mangos is a complex contemporary crime drama that consumed me from the start.

The action alternates between present day and seven years earlier. The reader witnesses the build up to present circumstances. Louise Mangos has produced an intricate plotline. The novel deals with truth and lies, reality and twisted events. The reader realizes that the innocent are being set up but we are powerless to intervene. Money, power and influence talk. We long to see the underdog rise up.

A mother’s love is a powerful force. It can be used for good or ill. In its purest form it is protective and nurturing. Twisted love is not easy to watch.

Harbor Secrets by Melody Carlson

The Power Of The Pen

Harbor Secrets by Melody Carlson is a marvellous Christian historical novel and the first in the Legacy Of Sunset Cove series which promises to be charming.

Once again Melody Carlson has created a wonderful mix of characters who delight the reader. Set in 1916 there is a strong female lead who believes that she is just as good as any man as she is called upon to run the local newspaper. She is accepted by some but others prefer the old order of things. She is definitely a modern woman breaking into a man’s world in an age where women were seen as inferior to men. In contrast there is another female character who is squashed and bullied by her domineering husband.
