Minding The Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher

The Beat Of My Heart

Minding The Light by Suzanne Woods Fisher is an epic Christian historical novel with its dual timeline and its continuation of the story of Mary Coffin and her ancestors.

Once again I was completely engrossed in this second book of the Nantucket Legacy series. Big hearts that see people reigned. Family is important for some, but for others they prefer to try to rule the roost. “She was quite fond of her grudges, nursing them like little pets.” Grudges change us from open hearted to closed fisted and are best avoided.

Life was hard. People died. She “was gone from this earth, yet life carried on as if it were an ordinary day.” We feel that the world should stop turning when a loved one dies, but that is never the case.

A Vast And Gracious Tide by Lisa Carter

Always Come Home

A Vast And Gracious Tide by Lisa Carter is a Christian contemporary romantic suspense. It will have the reader enthralled from the start.

The novel is about loss and survivor’s guilt. Our veterans went to war for us but on returning, a part of them is always left behind, wondering ‘what if?’ Bonds are formed with men and dogs in their units. It is unthinkable to leave anyone behind. Guilt consumes the survivors. “Guilt, even if undeserved, may be the hardest thing to overcome.”

Loss eats up two of the characters. “Stuck between her life Before and an After she was afraid to embrace.” We must face our past before we can move into our future.

The novel shows the importance of God. God is not a distant God. He is as close to us as we want Him to be. “He… didn’t believe God believed in him.” God believes in each and every one of us.

The Gift by Stephanie Matthews

Yea Though I Walk Through The Valley

The Gift by Stephanie Matthews is a contemporary Christian allegorical story that has the reader glued and guessing from the start.

Life is always a battle between good and evil but “truth doesn’t change.” What God said in the past is still true today, regardless of the opinions of others. We need to beware of which voice we are listening to. The enemy loves to mimic and confuse us. We need to always be discerning.

People are the greatest barrier to others knowing Jesus. We need to make sure that we walk the walk as we may be the only representatives of Jesus that some people see.

There is power in prayer. “Every miracle begins with prayer.” We need to stay plugged in to the source.

A Premature Apocalypse by Dan Sofer

Thrilling Conclusion

A Premature Apocalypse by Dan Sofer is an exciting Christian end times thriller. It is the third book in the Dry Bones Society series and I recommend reading the previous two books first.

The novel contains all the elements predicted to happen in the end times – wars, rumours of wars, cataclysmic happenings, political battles. As well as the dead rising. The action will keep you glued in this fast paced thriller.

There are many evil men in the world. People manipulate others and events for their own gain. Powerful countries are pitted against each other as America faces Russia with Israel caught in between.

We face enemies every day because “our enemies are lies and fear.” If others can sow fear in our hearts, we will lose sight of God. Fear cannot exist if we have faith. Our God must be, and is, bigger than our fears.
