The Lawman’s Love by Angelica Hart

Of Gifts, Friendship And Love

The Lawman’s Love by Angelica Hart is a historical romantic adventure. It is the third book in the Baxter Homestead series and I loved it.

Familiar faces warmed my heart as I caught up on the latest happenings.

The book was a curious mixture – reminiscent of the Lone Ranger and Tonto blended with God and the Holy Spirit. I was reminded that we are never alone. Even when we do not see or feel God, He never leaves us. He walks alongside us, working silently in our lives. Jesus said in the Bible that He would send the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter. To be alongside us at all times. We may not see Him working in our lives but He will be always with us, whether we feel Him or not.

Life is a battle of good versus evil. This is clearly shown within the tale.

My Heart Belongs In Castle Gate Utah by Angie Dicken

Scatter The Darkness

My Heart Belongs In Castle Gate Utah by Angie Dicken is a delightful Christian historical romance which I loved.

The action is set in 1910 in the mining town of Castle Gate. There are the themes of prejudice and ignorance towards the immigrants. Even the very young were taught to hate. “I pray that one day we will all see one another for our hearts and not our origins.” God asks us to shine a light in a dark world. “There is no darkness but ignorance.” We are called to “scatter the darkness.”

Mixed marriages were frowned upon. Arranged marriages within communities were common. Marriage alliances for money rather than love were the order of the day.

The Eagle And The Child by S. Khubiar

My Father’s Gift

The Eagle And The Child by S.Khubiar is a contemporary political thriller that marries political espionage with an ordinary life. It is an epic read that will have you chewing your finger nails and your emotions ebbing and flowing.

The novel is about identity. Who are we? The leading lady is a complex mix of incredibly strong and unbelievably vulnerable. Her strength of body lies with her strength of mind. Her vulnerability is what endears her to the reader.

There are many instances of racism and prejudice within the novel. People receive racial slurs merely because of their looks. We need to be “seeing others as human beings, not objects.”

Moonlight Over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan

The Best Gift Of All

Moonlight Over Manhattan by Sarah Morgan is a delightful fun read. I always enjoy Sarah Morgan’s novels as they warm my heart and leave a smile on my face. This is the sixth book in the From Manhattan With Love series and I loved catching up with familiar faces.

Moonlight Over Manhattan is about hope and kindness. Main character Harriet radiates kindness wherever she goes. Her open and generous spirit is infectious. She sees what others miss – she sees people. “Small things matter.” It is in the detail that her huge heart shines through.

The novel revolves around dogs. Dogs of all different shapes and sizes. Even to a cat person like me, the dogs are wonderful, each with their unique personalities. They have starring roles within the tale.
