Capturing Beauty by Brenda Anderson

Family First

Capturing Beauty by Brenda Anderson is a wonderful contemporary Christian romance. It is the second book in the Where The Heart series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Brenda Anderson writes novels that go directly to my heart. She draws realistic and lovable characters who face problems that are easy to empathise with. Brenda Anderson has clearly studied mannerisms and behaviours as her characters explode off the page and into life. Eight year old Reece is a delightful mix of a big heart and boyish mood swings. Anyone who has been around children can easily recognise his behaviour. He is a normal young boy – not perfect but perfectly lovable.

Rescued by Joy Ohagwu

Fighting In Prayer

Rescued by Joy Ohagwu is a Christian suspense novel. It is the fifth book in the New Rulebook series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Rescued has the theme of faith and trust in God. In desperate situations where we see no answer, the answer, the answer is to trust God. “Trusting God completely. No more fear.” Faith and fear are opposites. If we have faith, there is no need to fear.

Prayer is important. “Faith grew in her heart the more she prayed… she trusted God.” Prayer will help to strengthen our faith and build a relationship with God. God always hears and answers prayer but not always in the way we want or when we want. In times of difficulty being able to mobilise a prayer team is vital. “The prayer team members formed an emergency prayer line.” Just knowing that others stand with you is a comfort and fighting every battle on your knees is a must.

Conquering Your Goliaths by Kathryn Jones

Simply Beautiful

Conquering Your Goliaths by Kathryn Jones is a wonderful contemporary Christian novel. I absolutely loved it. The words penetrated my soul. It was beautiful and heart-felt.

The story has life lessons for us all to learn. We all need the five stones presented in the story. We all need to know God. We need to cease our busyness and turn to God. “It was easy to forget God in the world of business and busyness.” We all need to make room for God in our lives.

Prayer is a two way conversation with God. “She’d… expected God to help her without even a thought to listening to what He had to say.” Prayer is not us asking God for things, we need to listen to His answers. Prayer must be from the heart and not just us paying lip service to God. “She’d prayed… a quick dose method.” Prayer is never meant to be a chore but an act of love.

The Vets At Hope Green part 2 by Sheila Norton

Speaking To My Heart

The Vets At Hope Green part 2 by Sheila Norton continues the tale of Sam, a young woman living in London but dreaming of village life. Again, just seven chapters that leaves the reader hanging on for the next part. Sheila Norton’s engaging style really speaks to my heart.

The residents of Hope Green are wonderfully portrayed – all unique – from single mums to grumpy vets to gossiping neighbours to caring grandmothers – a fabulous glimpse into village life. My heart wants to move there!

As a crazy cat lady, I lost my heart to a small black kitten. Sheila Norton really knows cats as she had captured not only my heart but the personality of a kitten.
