Tea Shop Folly by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Delightfully Warm And Welcoming

Tea Shop Folly by Carrie Fancett Pagels is an absolutely delightful Christian historical romance and I loved it. I always know that when I pick up a story by Carrie Fancett Pagels, I will be absorbed into the action as I glide through the pages.

Lilly is a wonderful main character. I could ‘see’ her in my mind’s eye. She was warm and loving, a delightful woman of God who put others first and practices the gift of hospitality.

Leading man Theo is a fabulous blend of strong but vulnerable. We meet him first as he is nursing a migraine and he brings out the nurturing side in the reader. He is also the protective knight in shining armour.

Requilted With Love by Carrie Fancett Pagels is a wonderful feel-good story to kick off the collection. Carrie Fancett Pagels always writes stories that speak straight to the readers heart. Her talent for describing scenes means the reader walks through the story actively rather than passively reading it.

The story deals with loss and grief and second chances. God is at the very heart. Characters need to seek His guidance and listen to His voice.

A perfectly delightful story.

Saving The Marquise’s Granddaughter by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Trusting God

SavingSaving The Marquise’s Granddaughter by Carrie Fancett Pagels is a Christian historical romance set in 1745. The action moves from France to Germany to America.

Eighteenth century France was in turmoil. Huguenots were persecuted and killed. Anyone professing that faith had to hide. The novel deals with various different denominations. The most important thing is not your denomination but that you serve God and live a godly life.

Faith is a major theme within the novel. Suzanne has her grandmother’s rosary. “Her rituals no longer soothed her.” Faith is not about rituals, it is about relationship with God. Faith is not something you can inherit from your parents. “You need your own faith. This you cannot borrow.” Faith is between you and God. You need to build your own relationship.

The Steeplechase by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Dastardly Villains and Handsome Heroes

The Steeplechase coverThe Steeplechase by Carrie Fancett Pagels is a good old fashioned Christian historical romantic adventure. There is something for everyone – a handsome hero, a brave and beautiful heroine, sibling rivalry, sibling bonding, a dastardly villain, talk of spies and duelling. I really enjoyed it and could not put it down.

The story is set in America in 1810. Any meetings or friendship with the British is viewed with suspicion. Martha’s stepmother is British so the whole family is viewed with caution. She is visiting her family in England. Martha is relieved to be free from her constant demands. There is something about her like the stepmother in Cinderella, even though the reader does not meet her, it is implied.

There is a beautiful bond between Martha and her stepbrother six year old Johnny. Abandoned at school, it seems like only Martha cares that he is unhappy. Her desire is to have Johnny home again. Carrie Fancett Pagels in her writing has delightfully captured Johnny’s character and personality.
