Entertaining Angels by Janet Hosier and Liza Hoeksma

Inspiring

Entertaining Angels by Janet Hosier and Liza Hoeksma tells the true story of New Hope Trust in Watford, a centre for the homeless. The book shows that if God gives you a dream, He will provide all you need to fulfil it. Every prayer will be answered and every need met.

No one chooses to be homeless. Circumstances happen and people end up on the streets. Here they are treated as social pariahs, when what they all long for is social contact with other human beings as much as practical help – a friendly face and a kind word as well as food and shelter.

Often homelessness goes hand in hand with alcohol and/or drug abuse. Help is needed to beat these addictions.

Her Last Breath by Tracy Buchanan

Beneath The Surface

Her Last Breath by Tracy Buchanan is a contemporary psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

It really is a marvellous read and very cleverly constructed. The novel’s chapters alternate between two different voices – present day action and a menacing voice that is watching and waiting. Throughout I tried to guess who’s was the menacing voice? I accused most of the characters before the big reveal.

The novel has the themes of secrets and lies, appearances and reality. Everyone seems to have a secret they protect with lies. The faces presented to the world are not reality. The reader must discover the truth beneath the lies and appearances.

For A Season by Rosemary Hines

Every Life Counts

For A Season by Rosemary Hines is a wonderful, heartfelt contemporary Christian story. It is the eighth book in The Sandy Cove series but can be read as a stand-alone.

You will need tissues as you read because For A Season tackles the difficult topic of infant mortality. It is sensitively and beautifully written. Tears will flow but Rosemary Hines presents the hope of Heaven. “I believe that I’ll be running to Jesus.”

God is central to the novel. Life is hard at times. Life without God is awful. God never promised us a trouble free life, quite the opposite. Jesus said “You will have troubles.” Jesus did promise to never leave us alone and He does walk alongside us in our troubles. The family in the novel press into God because they really have nowhere else to go. “We’re taking it one day at a time, and trusting God to do the rest.”

First Light by Erynn Newman

Of Love And Grace

First Light by Erynn Newman is an enchanting Christian romance spanning fifteen years from the early 1990’s. It is a little book that sets the scene for future books.

First Light is about young love. It is about unfailing love – unfailing love from a person and unfailing love from God. “He (God) was there all along, calling me home… I tried to drown Him out with drinking and partying… but all the time He was there… waiting.” Sooner or later we all have to answer the call and come home to God. God, who will never let us down and never let us go.

The novel has love emanating from its pages. It sinks into the reader’s soul. The words were beautifully written. The novel was heartfelt. There are no words to adequately express just how far the novel penetrated into my very being. You need to experience First Light for yourself.
