The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron

Writing The Next Chapter

The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron is the most delightful Christian historical and contemporary romance. Like a cosy sweater, Kristy Cambron’s stories just cocoon the reader from start to end.

The novel has a triple timeline mainly set in France – late eighteenth century, 1941-1944 and present day. As the story unfolds, the reader takes great delight in travelling through the time periods.

The stories are linked by strong, brave women. Women who are educated, know what they want and will go to extraordinary lengths to get it.

Love never dies. The love stories are beautiful. Love and legacy last down the years. Our lives are as they are because of those who have gone before.

Love’s Bright Tomorrow by Naomi Rawlings

Dreams

Love’s Bright Tomorrow by Naomi Rawlings is a delightful Christian historical adventure. It is the sixth and final book in the Eagle Harbor series but can be read as a stand-alone.

The novel is about dreams. There is the big American dream where poor immigrants believed America was the land of riches and dreams. The reality was often very different. There are individual dreams and there is the dream of God for each and every one of us. If God gives you a dream, pursue it and hearken to His voice.

Sometimes life intervenes and our dreams die. “He’d lost more than just his pa… he’d lost his dreams.” The loss of our loved ones may consume us, keeping us locked into a moment in time.

Troubled Waters by Susan May Warren

The Choice

Troubled Waters by Susan May Warren is a wonderful Christian contemporary romantic adventure. It is the fourth book in the Montana Rescue series but can be read as a stand-alone. For maximum enjoyment I would recommend reading the other books in the series.

This book is about choice. We all face choices but the biggest one is whether to choose Jesus. “There comes a time… when he either has to get right with Jesus and ask for help, or go it alone.” Doing life alone is no fun and not what God intended. There is always a choice to “choose faith or fear.” When we have faith, we have nothing to fear.

Sometimes we feel we are not ‘good enough’ for God but we have forgotten about grace that covers us all. “Your worth to God has nothing to do with your action. He loves you because He wants to.”

A Matter Of Trust by Susan May Warren

Teamwork

A Matter Of Trust by Susan May Warren is a delightful contemporary Christian romantic adventure which I loved. It is the third book in the Montana Rescue series but can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones.

PEAK rescue team has the mantra of sticking together and leaving no one behind. They rescue people because it is their job. They do not stop to think if they deserve it. “No one in trouble should be worried as to whether they deserve help.” Likewise God rescues us, not because we deserve it but because it is in His nature and because of grace that covers us all.

This links to the theme of trust. We can trust God and we need to trust others. We cannot go through life in grand isolation. “You have a history with God… once upon a time you trusted Him.” We can trust God in all situations and at all times especially when life is tough. Life may have disappointed us but God never will. “God… I want to believe you are on my side.” God is on our side. The question is, are we on His?
