Wonderful, Warm And Welcoming

When Love Returns by Lorana Hoopes is a contemporary Christian romance which I absolutely loved. It is the first book in the Star Lake series and I cannot wait for the rest.

It’s really exciting to discover a new author. Lorana Hoopes writes in such a wonderful and engaging manner that leaves the reader wanting more. Her chapters alternate between the points of view of her two lead characters, enabling the reader to become intimately acquainted with them both. Lorana Hoopes employs the technique of repetition, as the first meeting of the characters is shown from both viewpoints, revealing to the reader that both characters are singing from the same hymn sheet, revealing their true hearts.

Three Way Knot

The Choice By Samantha King is a marvellous psychological thriller that will have the reader puzzling and guessing throughout. Just when you think you know where you are heading, the action twists and turns, confusing you once more.

 My heart raced throughout, with audible gasps at times. I didn’t just read the novel. I ‘experienced’ the action through the eyes of lead character Maddie. Written in the first person, I ‘felt’ everything Maddie ‘felt’. I was Maddie for the duration of the novel.

As Samantha King presents the action, so the reader questions – what is real? Who can be trusted? Cleverly constructed, the reader wanders the novel in a confused state until the big reveal at the close. The reader mirrors Maddie at every twist and turn.

Simply Beautiful

Dreams Of Heaven by Elizabeth Herrera is an absolutely beautiful Christian fantasy novel, that really ‘spoke’ to my heart.

The novel has Jesus at the centre. He is always with us. There is nothing in this life (or death) that we ever have to face without Him. He will always support us, carry us and love us. He is the embodiment of love.

The love just radiates from the story. The love of a mother for her family and her love for Jesus. This love extends to the reader. I felt myself awash with love and with peace.

Dreams Of Heaven is simply beautiful. It will soothe your soul. It will speak to your heart. It will fill you with hope. In its simplicity, Dreams Of Heaven penetrates your very being. I loved it.

Manuscript For Murder by Chautona Havig

Manuscript For Murder by Chautona Havig is a Christian murder mystery which I really enjoyed. It had me guessing from the start – who was committing the parallel crimes? Once again I suspected many characters but failed to guess correctly.

The lead character is wonderfully eccentric in her dress but with a heart of gold. I immediately warmed to her as she spread goodness wherever she went. She wasn’t holier than thou, she had a past but in Christ she was a new creation. I loved her kindness and her quirkiness. She reminded me of Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote.
