Restoring Love by Jennifer Slattery

Overflowing Grace

Restoring Love by Jennifer Slattery is a delightful contemporary Christian romance, packed full of Godly themes which I adored.

Restoring Love is about just that – love. A love that loves unconditionally. A love that goes deep. A love that restores and redeems. It is about God’s love for us. No-one is ever beyond God’s love and grace. As each one of us receives His love and grace so we must pass it on. “I wouldn’t be sitting here today if someone hadn’t offered me grace.”

Prayer is powerful. Prayer changes lives. Prayer is talking to God and building a relationship. Prayer is petitioning God on behalf of others. Pray without ceasing and never give up. God always hears our prayers. “What if she prayed? Would God listen?” God always bends an ear to prayer. No one is out of reach of God.

Delivered by Joy Ohagwu

The Battle Of The Old And The New

Delivered by Joy Ohagwu is a Christian contemporary suspense. It is the sixth book in the New Rulebook series but can be read as a stand-alone.

This New Rulebook series has been a cracking one. Delivered focuses on Pete Zendel. Delivered shows how God is the God of the new. He is the God of restoration. He takes the old version of us and begins to transform us into the image of His Son.

Delivered has many Godly themes including that of the importance of prayer. “So he went to God in prayer for direction.” Prayer is essential at all times. Prayer is just talking to God and building a relationship with Him.

Then. Now. Always by Isabelle Broom

Finding Love

Then. Now. Always by Isabelle Broom is a contemporary romance that I really loved and devoured.

Then. Now. Always is a study of love, life and human relationships. We all need love to function. It comes in different forms, all of which are valuable.

The novel encapsulates hope, using the motif of rainbows. “I come here every morning to watch the rainbows.” Rainbows offer the promise of something brighter to come after the rain. “The darkness that had enveloped her is pierced now with brightness: the future contains hope.”

Another theme is that of appearances. People may show one face to the world but the person behind the smile may be very different.

All I Ever Wanted by Lucy Dillon

Wishing Bubbles

All I Ever Wanted by Lucy Dillon is a contemporary novel about families and love and loss. It was a study into a family that was falling apart and a study of grief. It was poignantly written and I got totally caught up in the lives of the characters.

Lucy Dillon has created a wonderful set of characters. All unique and with both good points and character flaws, making them easy to empathise with and realistic. The two children were delightful, with their mannerisms that shot straight to my heart. I wanted to mother them both. With their parents marriage falling apart, Lucy Dillon perfectly captured the emotions of the children both through what they did and didn’t do. The emotional trauma tugged at this reader’s heartstrings.
