Teamwork Makes The Dreamwork

Summer Term At Malory Towers by Pamela Cox is the eighth book in the Malory Towers series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the books in order, for timeline progression. And continuity of characters.

Malory Towers was originally penned by Enid Blyton in the 1940’s. Pamela Cox has taken up the reins from book seven onwards. It is a seamless transition as the flow and style is the same as the originals. The books are perfect for the over ten girls.

We rejoin Malory Towers for the summer term, seeing familiar faces, and meeting new ones.

We see the importance of friendship, and learn the value of sharing problems. “Sometimes it helps to confide in someone.” What can be a burden for one, becomes lighter if carried by more.

Five Have A Wonderful Time by Enid Blyton is the eleventh book in the Famous Five series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Familiar faces are off on an adventure again – as a caravanning holiday leads to more than the children bargained for.

Staying in two traditional traveller’s caravans, the five are looking forward to a peaceful time in the countryside.

First, they meet some hostile circus folk, then a face from the past returns, and finally there is a face-off with the bad men! No such thing as a quiet time for the five!

Five Go On A Hike Together by Enid Blyton is a marvellous children’s adventure. It is the tenth book in the Famous Five series but can be read as a stand-alone.

A few last days in the autumn sunshine see the famous five set off on a hike and camping across the moors.

There are some shady characters as once more, the five fall into an adventure. The unsavoury couple try to scare off the children who are plucky and not easily scared.

Enid Blyton has created another marvellous tale for those aged ten years and over.

A Timeless Appeal

Last Term At Malory Towers by Enid Blyton is the sixth book in the Malory Towers series. I recommend reading the books in numerical order as the books show a group of girls as they journey through their high school years.

This is a marvellous series for girls. The first six books were penned in the 1940’s and 50’s, and still appeals to new audiences today. There are another seven books, making it a thirteen-book series. I first enjoyed Malory Towers fifty years ago. I am looking forward to reading the new books in the series.

Each book has a new pupil or pupils added to the core group of characters as we witness the daily lives of the girls boarding at Malory Towers.

There are some hard lessons to be learnt as we reap what we sow.
