Life Without My Family: Lone Survivor Of Eleven Children: Overcoming Grief With Faith by Sophie Scenic-Daniels

Inspiring

Life Without My Family: Lone Survivor Of Eleven Children: Overcoming Grief With Faith by Sophie Scenic-Daniels is an inspiring account of a life lived well, loving God throughout all the challenging scenes of life.

The author had a good role model in her Mum. “My mother lost seven children, then lost her husband, but never blamed God. She instead lived a life of prayer.” Prayer is important. Prayer is a bridge to God. Prayer is powerful. “My Mum was a prayer warrior.” When we do not know what else to do, we should pray. We need to pray in the good times and we need to pray in the bad. We need to live a life of prayer.

We need to live a life of love too, knowing that God is love. We are called to show people who do not know Jesus, His love. We must act in love at all times, and never sit in judgement.

When we seek God, He will be found. “I sought God… and… found Him… This… took away the emptiness.” The author has suffered so much loss. She could have gone under with grief but instead she sought out God. “Faith become[s] the anchor.” We all need an anchor, and what better anchor to have than God?

Living Water To Refresh Your Soul by Tracy Smoak

So Beautiful

Living Water To Refresh Your Soul by Tracy Smoak is a simply beautiful book containing thirty devotionals that will help you in your faith walk.

Jesus is THE living water. Just as we need water to hydrate our physical bodies, we need Jesus’ words to hydrate our souls.

The devotional has thirty photographs taken in Florida. Each is serenely beautiful. The photos alone spoke to my soul.

Each of the thirty devotionals open with a photo and a description underneath. A Bible verse follows and then a prayer and a faith step. The faith step poses a question or a suggestion. It requires action on our part as we respond. As we move into action with our response, we will be drawing closer to God. As we draw closer to Him, so He moves towards us.

The Medium And The Minister by Roger Straughan

Fascinating – But No One Really Knows

The Medium And The Minister by Roger Straughan is a fascinating book studying the afterlife. The author produces evidence and viewpoints from both points of view. Ultimately it is up to the reader to decide what we choose to believe as no one really knows what happens after we die.

Roger Straughan shows the emergence of spiritualism from the mid nineteenth century. It had supporters in the British Prime Minister Arthur Balfour and author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is interesting to read their findings.

During World War I many strange phenomena happened to grieving relatives and soldiers still serving in the trenches, who claim to have seen those already passed on, but at the time the relatives and soldiers had no knowledge of the deaths. It is amazing to read, totally fascinating and unexplainable.
