Hound On A Scrounge by Maria Bucci is an absolutely delightful book for the under fives and the young at heart.
We join Buddy, a hound, as he sits under the table waiting for titbits. The book is very cleverly done as Buddy draws the reader into his world. He interacts with the reader telling them what to do in order to act like a dog – And he dishes out gold stars!
We also learn the origins of afternoon tea – proving you are never too old to learn something new.
All the book is beautifully illustrated by Martynas Marchiusm. The drawings are simple but effective and each page is a prompt for further discussions with our children. Buddy is a pure delight with his big eyes and friendly face.
Hound On A Scrounge is a totally charming book that will delight any child (and adult too!)
I received a free copy from Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
Hound on a Scrounge
“Sniff, Snuffle, Sniff!”
“Can you smell the delicious aroma coming from this book?
It’s time for afternoon Tea…Slurrrp!”
Meet Buddy. He loves food, food and more food. But he’s not just a hound on a scrounge – Buddy has a wonderful true story about afternoon tea that he would love to share with you.
“I hope you can join me…ooh, but hurry! They’re bringing out the food…Woofety Woof!
I have always loved children’s books and, after studying various picture book courses, I decided to take the plunge and write my own. Hoping to educate and entertain, as well as involve the young reader, my debut also includes a bit of history. When I’m not writing, I enjoy taking the real Buddy hound on long walks and spending time with my family. I also love to bake, sing and paint but sadly, I have not mastered doing all three at the same time!
