An Anchor On Her Heart by Patricia Lee

A Gift From God

An Anchor On Her Heart by Patricia Lee is a most delightful contemporary Christian novel about love, friendship and our faithful God. It is the first book in the Mended Hearts series and I cannot wait to read the subsequent books.

The novel concerns the sea and a community. The sea is wild and untamed. There will be times when a rescue is needed. This reminds the reader that God rescues us from our situations. We just need to cry out to Him.

Sometimes God is quiet. “She implored heaven to hear her cry… God remained silent.” We must never equate silence with absence. God hears our cries and He always moves on our behalf but not always in the ways we expect.

As parents we long to keep our children safe. As they grow older it is not always possible but we can entrust them into God’s hands and cover them with prayer. “From your lips to God’s ears.”

Once A Hero by Jan Thompson

Righting The Wrongs

Once A Hero by Jan Thompson is a contemporary Christian romantic suspense and the second book in the Protector Sweethearts series. It can be read as a stand-alone.

It is an exciting and complex read. I must admit I got confused at times trying to follow the intricacies of the action. I think this because I had a kindle copy. I recommend buying a paperback as it makes flicking backwards easier.

The novel is about righting the wrongs of the past. Stolen artefacts need to be found and returned. There is the question of trust. The reader realises God can always be trusted.

The Day She Came Back by Amanda Prowse

The Same Moon

The Day She Came Back by Amanda Prowse is a bittersweet contemporary novel about love and hard choices. It is beautifully written and will lodge in your heart and soul.

Love is the most powerful force. A maternal love will do whatever is required to keep children or grandchildren safe. When love is our motivation sometimes seemingly impossible choices are made.

The reader witnesses the beautiful bond between a grandmother and her granddaughter. Their love radiates from the pages of the novel.

Loss hurts. When death comes stealthily with no time to say goodbye, guilt remains. It is guilt for what we did or didn’t do. Guilt will eat us up. We need to let go of guilt and focus on our memories.

Not My Daughter by Suzy K Quinn

Wow, Just Wow

Not My Daughter by Suzy K Quinn is an absolutely marvellous contemporary psychological thriller suspense that completely messed with my mind and emotions. It was a ‘wow’ read.

The novel is cleverly constructed and Suzy Quinn manipulated my emotional responses throughout. I tried to sort out the truth from the lies. Who was spinning the tales? Who was completely vulnerable? And who was in control? See if you can figure it out before the final word is read.

Now the book is ended, I feel totally shell-shocked – superb just doesn’t cover it. There are no superlatives good enough to describe just how marvellous, intricate and clever this book is.

Suzy Quinn has created a fabulous set of characters. My responses to them were perfectly set up by the author, so that I could experience that ‘wow did that just happen?’ moment.
