A 21st Century Christmas Carol by Dennis J Beesley

Beautiful

A 21st Century Christmas Carol by Dennis J Beesley is a very beautiful and serene retelling of the famous story brought right up to date. It is also told from a Christian perspective.

Dennis J Beesley has given a unique take on a timeless classic. It is familiar yet different.

This new tale is all about learning to see and discern the hand of Jesus on our lives at all times.

I loved the new set of characters. There was genuine warmth enveloping the whole story. It was beautifully told and has left me feeling very peaceful. I can highly recommend it.

Smoke Screen by Terri Blackstock

Not All Superheroes Wear Capes

Smoke Screen by Terri Blackstock is a marvellous Christian contemporary suspense that will have you glued from the start.

The novel revolves around old and new crimes as characters try to prove their innocence. As their worlds come tumbling down, it feels like even God is absent. “The best I could do was hang on and pray like mad. But I doubted God was listening to me anymore.” God never leaves us. He hears our prayers and He always answers them but in His way and in His timing. God sees our end from our beginning. It is only when we look back that we can see His hand on our lives.

Crises will either draw you towards God or propel you away as you feel abandoned. “I wanted to pray but I was still mad at God.” God can handle our emotions. He wants us to be truthful and to be real. “Where are You?… Why didn’t He fight for me?” God fights battles we may be unaware of.

The Cherry Tree Cafe by Heidi Swain

No Place Like Home

The Cherry Tree Café by Heidi Swain is the most delightful contemporary heart-warming novel that will give you a great big welcome to the village of Wynbridge. Here, life is all about community – where there is a need, it is met. It is not a place for a private life! “My private life was going to be very public.”

The novel is about restoration, new beginnings and following your dreams. It is about finding out your niche and living life to the full. A fulfilled life does not necessarily mean a fast paced life in the city. A fulfilled life is one where you feel comfortable and loved.

Lies can destroy. “It simply isn’t possible to live a lie for long.” Lies wreck lives. Sooner or later, the truth must come out.

At the heart of the novel is baking and crafts. Both add warmth and show how we can use our gifts.

A Gift Like No Other by Julie Lessman

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

A Gift Like No Other by Julie Lessman is a Christian historical novel that focuses on a marriage. It is set in 1930’s America where the roles of husband and wife were different to today.

Gradually women were breaking free from the role of stay-at-home mum but there were still men who held the belief that a married woman, and especially one with children should stay at home. “It’s the thirties… where married women have no business in the workplace.” The domineering spirit of a husband means resentment builds within a marriage.

The novel explores a marriage where cracks are appearing. A marriage should be a three way partnership… husband, wife and God. Prayer is the glue that cements a marriage. Marriage as God intended means we should love our spouses as Christ loved the church.
