Snow Angel Cove by RaeAnne Thayne

Delightful

Snow Angel Cove by RaeAnne Thayne is the most delightful contemporary festive romance, absolutely perfect for any time of year.

At its core are good, warm, wholesome characters who just completely charm the reader, especially five year old Maddie. The characters welcome the reader into the story. We ‘experience’ the action, along with the characters.

Wonderful descriptions bring the book alive. The reader revels in the festivities leading up to Christmas. We can almost smell the snickerdoodles. The snow just adds to the atmosphere.

In small town America, people pull together. They fear businessmen who may disrupt their lives. Ultimately the townspeople have hearts for the vulnerable. A wonderful community atmosphere.

Summer Of Secrets by Nikola Scott

Magnificent Obsessions

Summer Of Secrets by Nikola Scott is a marvellous historical and contemporary novel about the power of love to motivate actions. Set in present day and the summer of 1939, as the world was on the brink of war.. Lives mirror world events on the brink of change.

Parallel lives today and in 1939 hold the reader’s attention. We see the powerful force of love at work. Siblings share bonds that it is impossible for anyone else to understand.

Love is a strange emotion. At its best it is pure and good. At its worst it is twisted and controlling. It is all consuming.

There are difficult to read scenes concerning domestic abuse. Abuse takes many forms including mental anguish and domination. You can be abused in a mansion just as easily as in a hovel. Abuse is never the victims fault.

One Thousand Stars And You by Isabelle Broom

Life Unpaused

One Thousand Stars And You by Isabelle Broom is a most delightful contemporary novel about awakenings and exploration. I just could not put it down. It’s beautiful.

We all need to be true to ourselves. If we live a lie, sooner or later we will crack. We must be the person we were created to be. We must not live a life that someone else expects of us. We need to live our dreams, not theirs. Internal inspection can be painful. We need to be truthful about what we find. We need to love the skin we are in.

Life is an adventure. Do not settle for anything less.

The novel is about friends, both old and new. Friends who will support, love and encourage.

A Fatal Mistake by Faith Martin

Good Old Fashioned Policing

A Fatal Mistake by Faith Martin is a fabulous nostalgic crime novel set in 1960. It is the second book in the Ryder And Loveday Mysteries but can be read as a stand-alone.

Once more the crime busting duo of elderly coroner Ryder and probationer WPC Loveday meet up to crack another crime. They are an unlikely pairing but work well together. Fresh faced and enthusiastic Loveday contrasts with the meticulous and calm Ryder. They bounce off each other much to the readers delight.

1960 was the dawn of the modern era. Female police officers were a new phenomenon and faced much hostility and prejudice. They had to work twice as hard just to maintain an equal footing with their male counterparts.
