Imperfectly Proverbs 31 by Autumn Macarthur

Life, Love And Laughter

Imperfectly Proverbs 31 by Autumn Macarthur is a delightful Christian romance exploring the themes of faith, forgiveness and the Father. It is the second book in the Huckleberry Lake series.

There are lessons for us all to learn. The world, especially the media puts pressures on us all to be ‘perfect.’ Social media shows a snapshot in time not the reality behind the picture. ‘Perfect’ does not mean ‘without flaws’, it is a myth we are all trying to live up to. God looks at our hearts. We need hearts and lives aligned with His.

People misrepresent God. “Don’t make the mistake of judging God by His people.” Some paint a God who sits in judgement but nothing could be further from the truth. God is love. It is in His nature to love. He doesn’t love because He has too but because He takes delight in us. It is wrong of us to paint God in a bad light and put others off knowing Him.

Popular In Heaven Famous In Hell by R.T. Kendall

Draw Closer To Jesus

Popular In Heaven Famous In Hell by R.T. Kendall is a powerful and very approachable book that examines how to live as a person of faith in today’s world. Backed up with scripture and anecdotes, R.T. Kendall really engages the reader.

R.T. Kendall explores the men of faith as listed in Hebrews 11. We want to live faithful lives, seeking to be popular in heaven. This is counter cultural as the world seeks to be popular on earth. We need to live lives focused on God. We want to live by His values and not the world’s.

Have we lived well? “No amount of money, power or prestige can alter the date we each have with death.” One day we will all face God. We want to hear “Well done good and faithful servant” and not “Be gone. I never knew you.”

Eubeltic Descent by Nadine C Keels

Communication

Eubeltic Descent by Nadine C Keels is a Christian fantasy with sign language at its core. People sign not only due to deafness but speech impediments and deep trauma make sign language preferable to speech.

We communicate with more than just our mouths – our bodies can ‘talk’, so can our souls.

The novel is about discovery and a search for roots. We need to know where we come from before we can plan where we are going.

I do not normally read fantasy but Eubeltic Descent was a pleasant afternoon’s read.

I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Calm And Bright by Autumn Macarthur

Priorities

Calm And Bright by Autumn Macarthur is the most delightful Christmas Christian romance. It is the first book in the Huckleberry Lake series and I cannot wait to read the subsequent books.

There are themes of second chances, choices, trust and faith in God. It is never too late to choose surrender to God. God can give us all new beginnings because of His grace.

Sometimes we conform to the world’s patterns and lose sight of God. We live the wrong dreams. We make the wrong choices. Refocusing on God realigns our priorities with His. His plans are always the best plans.

Prayer works. Prayer should be as natural as breathing. We should be able to pray impromptu prayers.
