The Love Letter by Rachel Hauck

Come, Follow Me

The Love Letter by Rachel Hauck is the most delightful Christian contemporary and historical novel that enthrals from the start. This is a book that is just crying out to be read. You do not want to miss it.

The reader is in for a real treat as the action alternates between 1780 and present day. There are pairs of star crossed lovers who fight their own personal battles against the backdrop of the War For Independence. We are all in a spiritual battle as the devil fights to distract us from God. However “Love had already won.” God fights for us even when we do not know Him. God desires us. “God was pursuing her. Her choices led her straight to Him.” This is the love story over us all – that God pursues us. He desires a relationship with you and with me.

Breaking The Silence by Diamante Lavendar

Adopted Into His Family

Breaking The Silence by Diamante Lavendar is a powerful Christian novel about pain and forgiveness. It will break your heart as you read. It is set in 1985 looking backwards.

Breaking The Silence has some very difficult to read scenes as the novel surrounds the topic of child sexual abuse. It also has themes of drug and alcohol abuse as well as abortion, miscarriage and attempted suicide. The reader ‘feels’ the pain extending from the book as the lead character declares “when things are darkest, the only way to look is up.” She feels “the pain eating me alive.” God is always there for us. He can turn situations around but we will never understand why horrendous things happen to the innocents.

Season Of Hope by Alexa Verde

Family Matters

Season Of Hope by Alexa Verde is a sweet contemporary Christian romance. It is the third book in the Rios Azules Christmas series but can be read as a stand-alone. I however enjoyed catching up with familiar faces.

Once more Alexa Verde has written a charming tale that amuses, warms and imparts godly wisdom. “Her faith helped her through the worst moments.” Faith is not a crutch but faith sustains us through life. As we build a relationship with God, we know that we will never be alone. Prayer is our hotline to heaven. We can use prayer to thank God as well as to ask for help.

The novel shows how loss consumes us – either by living lives in isolation or by letting the burden of guilt and unforgiveness consume us. Letting the past impact the present is never good. “Sometimes we let our past impact our future way too much.” We need to give our burdens to God and learn to live and trust again.
