Season Of Hope by Brenda Anderson

A Cord Of Three Strands

Season Of Hope by Brenda Anderson is a most delightful contemporary Christian novel. It is part of the Potter’s House series.

Brenda Anderson writes realistically about what can happen when we fail to put God first in our lives, in our marriages and even in our churches. The Word of God must be central to our churches. We are not in a popularity contest. We are called to be faithful not popular. We must never water the Gospel down to appeal to the masses. Church is all about hearing the Gospel and pointing others to God. “It wasn’t New Hope that changed [him]. It was all Jesus.” Churches do not change people. It is God who changes them.

Sometimes people go to churches for years but never really know God. “She was a PK, a preacher’s kid, and yet she knew nothing about God.” Our faith is our responsibility. We do not get into Heaven on the shirt-tails of another.

There are times when we feel helpless. It is then that we need to lean on God. “I feel so helpless… We can be vigilant in prayer.” Prayer is so powerful. We must never flippantly offer to pray for others and then not do it. If we offer, we must lift others up in prayer.

Season Of Hope by Alexa Verde

Family Matters

Season Of Hope by Alexa Verde is a sweet contemporary Christian romance. It is the third book in the Rios Azules Christmas series but can be read as a stand-alone. I however enjoyed catching up with familiar faces.

Once more Alexa Verde has written a charming tale that amuses, warms and imparts godly wisdom. “Her faith helped her through the worst moments.” Faith is not a crutch but faith sustains us through life. As we build a relationship with God, we know that we will never be alone. Prayer is our hotline to heaven. We can use prayer to thank God as well as to ask for help.

The novel shows how loss consumes us – either by living lives in isolation or by letting the burden of guilt and unforgiveness consume us. Letting the past impact the present is never good. “Sometimes we let our past impact our future way too much.” We need to give our burdens to God and learn to live and trust again.

Season Of Hope by Sara Jane Jacobs

Blooming And Growing

Season Of Hope by Sara Jane Jacobs is a beautiful Christian story about loyalty, friendship and growing up. I was enthralled with it and could not put it down.

The opening really draws the reader in with its hint of threat and menace. The novel then moves to sometime in the past and the reader feels a build up of tension as we wonder, when will the opening scene be repeated?

God is a God who answers prayer, no matter how young or old we are. “A seed of friendship was planted, God not only answered the prayers of a little girl but He answered the prayers of a little boy too.” He doesn’t always answer as we want Him too but He gives us something far greater.
