Ellipsis by Gina Rincavage

Treasure In You

Ellipsis by Gina Rincavage is a contemporary Christian novel which is jaw droppingly beautiful and very poignant. My soul was soothed by this incredibly powerful story.

God delights to answer prayer. This is clearly seen within the novel. As in life, we can often only see God’s hand in our situations when we look back. God sees, hears and answers all our prayers in His perfect timing.

How well do you know Jesus? Would you recognise Him if He walked beside you? Would yours be an Emmaus or a Damascus road experience? The novel explores these questions.

Love’s Mending Embrace by Jenna Brandt

Never Alone

Love’s Mending Embrace by Jenna Brandt is a Christian historical novella and part of the First Street Church series. I enjoyed it.

The action is set in 1918 on the home front in America and in the prisons in Germany. Life is hard for the soldiers and for those left behind. Jenna Brandt shows how war changes people forever. Their bodies return home but their minds are still on the battlefield. Today we recognise this as PTSD but in 1918 people only saw damaged minds that only God could heal through prayer.

The novel is very reminiscent of Brother Yun’s ordeal in The Heavenly Man. Jenna Brandt reminds the reader that angels and miracles still exist today.

Loves Gamble by Emily Murdoch

A Sweet Tale

Love’s Gamble by Emily Murdoch is a Christian historical romance and part of the Sweet Grove series. It is a sweet gentle story set in 1843.

There are many themes including gambling, forgiveness, family, restoration and new beginnings.

This novella shows the power of a mother’s love to motivate all her actions for the good of her child.

Following God’s leading in our lives is the best that we can do.

A sweet story to wile away an hour.

The Christmas Admirer by Laura V Hilton

Gott Will Provide

The Christmas Admirer by Laura V Hilton is the most delightful Amish romance. There is a wonderful warm atmosphere that envelopes the reader. With snow falling and delicious food cooking, the reader can really ‘feel’ at home.

The novel is about trusting God. At times life seems hard but we need to lift our eyes from our circumstances and look to God. “Determined to praise Gott in the midst of circumstances rather than focus on the negative.” We have a choice to choose to trust God.

Trusting God means we do not need to worry. “Worry ends where faith in Gott begins.” Whatever happens, God has got our back.

People have doubts. Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Doubt can actually help our faith to grow as we question and choose to trust God. Doubt can “stretch his [our] faith.”
