To Fear The Dawn by Sean Young

Spinning Out Of Control

To Fear The Dawn by Sean Young is a contemporary Christian political thriller. It will have your heart racing as you speed through the action.

The plotline is extremely intricate with lots of fine detail. Try as I might, the outcome was impossible to guess. As the action twisted this way and that, I became more and more intrigued and caught up in the action.

The story has a real international flavour as it moves from South Africa to London to Paris to Italy and more. It is a novel with a cosmopolitan appeal. The reader really feels as if they have been on a whistle stop tour of exotic locations.

A huge theme is that of trust. The main character has to make judgment calls on whom to trust. Likewise the reader must form opinions of trustworthy characters.

Amish Brides by Various

Wonderful And Warm

Amish Brides is a trio of stories that will warm the reader’s heart. All three are similar but different, having themes in common. They are light hearted and highly amusing reads. Matchmaking can happen whether you are eight or eighty! I really enjoyed this trio of feel-good reads.

The Reluctant Groom by Jennifer Beckstrand is a delightful tale to begin this collection. It is full of humour, laughter and love. Matchmaking by an elderly grandparent certainly warms the heart. “All young men should be married before they make nuisances of themselves.” Reminiscent of the opening of Pride And Prejudice. It is also a study in grief. Grief that threatens to overwhelm. Grief that causes more guilt than happy memories. “I feel guilty even enjoying this cheese because Mary can’t.” We need to be happy because the person lived and not sad because they died. The Reluctant Groom was a wonderful, warm read that made the reader feel good.

Out Of The Shadows by Emma Carrie

A Hungry Teen And A Single Woman

Out Of The Shadows by Emma Carrie is a YA contemporary Christian suspense with elements of sci fi to it. It is the first book in the Tacket Secret and I really enjoyed it.

Out Of The Shadows sets the scene for subsequent books. I found myself asking questions throughout. Emma Carrie teased me by answering some of them and left me feeling intrigued and excited for future books, at the close of the novel.

The story seemed to be a two in one for me, as I eagerly followed the two main protagonists, wondering how their stories were going to interact. I was not disappointed.

Sunset In Old Savannah by Mary Ellis

A Marvellous Murder Mystery

Sunset In Old Savannah by Mary Ellis is a marvellous murder mystery which had me engrossed and guessing.

An intricate plot kept me on my toes. As the body count rose, I found it impossible to guess the perpetrator of the crimes. All was neatly tied up at the end.

The novel has many themes including that of the love of money being the root of all evil. The love of money corrupts and characters spiral downwards.

In contrast, having an open handed approach and generous attitude to money breeds good, kind hearted characters.
