A Marvellous Murder Mystery

Sunset In Old Savannah by Mary Ellis is a marvellous murder mystery which had me engrossed and guessing.

An intricate plot kept me on my toes. As the body count rose, I found it impossible to guess the perpetrator of the crimes. All was neatly tied up at the end.

The novel has many themes including that of the love of money being the root of all evil. The love of money corrupts and characters spiral downwards.

In contrast, having an open handed approach and generous attitude to money breeds good, kind hearted characters.

Moonlight Magnolia by Mary Ellis

Parallel But Different

MagnoliaMagnolia Moonlight by Mary Ellis is a Christian romantic suspense novel and part of the Secrets Of The South series. It can be read as a stand-alone.

This was my first novel by Mary Ellis and I really enjoyed it. The novel is centred around a P.I. company and had two parallel stories running throughout. It was not confusing as the action alternated between the two locations.

The novel showed that being a Christian does not make one immune to hardship. “Knowing scripture does not guarantee anyone a bed of roses.” The P.I’s searched for the truth surrounding the Rev. Paul’s death as his widow wanted the truth to come out.

Both cases concerned monetary fraud. Mary Ellis had clearly researched this area as the details were comprehensive. She set out the cases in such a way that it was easy for the reader to follow.
