Rest by Joy Ohagwu

A Teaser And A Recap

Rest by Joy Ohagwu is a contemporary novella. It is the eighth book in The New Rulebook series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Rest recaps on some of the previous action as well as setting the scene for what is to come. It is both a teaser and a reminder to the reader.

It is wonderful that the reader gets to see the family relaxing and interacting together, after all their adventures. The reader really ‘sees’ the human side to the characters.

A great little read which I enjoyed. I am eagerly awaiting the ninth book in the series and looking forward to the family’s next adventure.

Holiday In The Hamptons by Sarah Morgan

Hope And Second Chances

Holiday In The Hamptons by Sarah Morgan was another delightful fun contemporary romance which I just wallowed in. Meeting up with familiar characters from previous novels meant I felt comfortable from the start.

Four legged friends had starring roles in the novel. As a pet lover I love it that animals feature and work their way into the reader’s heart.

The novel shows the affect an upbringing can have on later life – for good or for bad. It reverberates… It destroys some structures and weakens others.”

Imagine by Julia Wilson

Taking A Risk

Imagine a young girl, pregnant, shunned, feeling alone. A young girl who takes a risk and says ‘yes’ to God. A young girl who gives birth to a King – King Jesus.

Imagine a man who learns that his betrothed is pregnant. A man who says ‘yes’ to God. A man who is the father figure to a King – King Jesus.

Imagine a group of men, ordinary men, going about their daily business. A group of men who take a risk and answer the call ‘follow Me.’ And they follow a King – King Jesus.

Imagine a woman who has bled for years. A woman who takes a risk and pushes through the crowd to touch the robe of a King – King Jesus.

The Postcard by Fern Britton

Sibling Rivalry

The Postcard by Fern Britton is a contemporary story surrounding two sets of siblings and secrets from the past. It was a wonderful entertaining read that had my pulse rising as I read towards the conclusion.

Families can be messy affairs – a melting pot for jealousy, hurt feelings and sibling rivalry. This is explored within the pages of The Postcard.

Everyone has secrets. Secrets can become a burden over time. They need to be shared or they will break the person carrying them, with their weight.

The novel delved into the topic of mothers. They come in different forms and can make or mar a child. There are several within the book.
