Shine Like The Dawn by Carrie Turansky

Uncovering The Truth

Shine Like The Dawn by Carrie Turansky is a Christian historical mystery romance and one that had me gripped from start to finish.

The novel has the theme of faith. Faith in God can keep one going through the darkest of times. When life is tough, handing control over to God is best. “I’ve chosen to let Him carry that load.”

Prayer goes hand in hand with faith. Sometimes events happen and we pull away from God instead of running to Him. We build a wall around our hearts to protect us but all that does is keep us prisoner. We mistakenly believe that God does not hear us or even care. “I don’t think God hears or answers my prayers.” We need to return to God. “She had ignored His voice and hardened her heart.” We need to break those walls down and return to God.

Muffins And Moonbeams by Elizabeth Maddrey

Wonderful, Warm And Welcoming

Muffins And Moonbeams by Elizabeth Maddrey is a delightful Christian romance and is the first novel in the Baxter Family Bakery series. It is also part of the Arcadia Valley series and I loved it.

There is a wonderful, warm community feel to the novel which just penetrates the reader’s heart. This close knit community look out for each other and pull together in business and pleasure. They function as the church described in Acts did.

The novel is concerned with the carbon footprint. There is a focus on keeping everything local and using produce in season. Everyone cares for the earth’s resources.

Door To Freedom by Jana Kelley

God Is Sovereign

Door To Freedom by Jana Kelley is an amazing contemporary Christian novel showing what life is like for Christians living in the predominately Muslim Sudan. It is a powerful novel that highlights the dangers of life. Things that we take for granted, such as our religious freedom can spell death.

Door To Freedom continues where Side By Side left off. The reader has the chance to catch up with familiar characters.

The novel has the theme of God being sovereign. It is in Him that one needs to put ones trust. The novel shows how Americans Michael and Mia try to live out their faith as the first century church did in Acts. They risk persecution but must stand firm and trust God.

Home To Paradise by Barbara Cameron

God’s Perfect Plans

Home To Paradise by Barbara Cameron is a delightful Amish novel and I loved it. It is the third book in the coming Home series but can be read as a stand-alone.

There is the theme of fathers. Our earthly fathers may let us down but our heavenly father never will. The relationship we have with our own fathers may influence how we see God. “Sometimes he felt as if God had forgotten him.” God never forgets us or ignores us even if it feels like it. There are father figures within the novel who do a better parenting job than blood fathers.
