Listening To God
A Royal Christmas Wedding by Rachel Hauck is a contemporary Christian romance and the fourth book in the Royal Wedding series. It can however be read as a stand-alone.
I always adore Rachel Hauck’s novels, knowing they will be truly delightful and have the heart of God. This Royal Wedding series has been wonderful. A Royal Christmas Wedding is the stuff of fairytales. It is not airy fairy though as it has God at the centre. God is recognised to be the Lord of our lives. We need to put Him first. Our heavenly Father always wants the best for us.
There is the dilemma of which father to listen to – our earthly father? Or our heavenly One? When they are at odds we need to trust our heavenly Father to work not only in our lives but also in the life of our earthly father.
The role of a father is shown to be important but the love of a father tops it all. God loves us even more than our earthly father does.
The novel is set at Christmas time. Rachel Hauck recognises the importance of Jesus’ birth but also says “How can one observe Christmas without recognising the cross?” As Jesus entered the world, He had one eye on the cross. He was born to be sacrificed so that each and every one of us can have a relationship with God.
There is the theme of trust and faith. Sometimes our faith is weak and that is when we need others to stand alongside us and strengthen us. “Let’s pool our faith and believe everything will be all right.”
Prayer is of vital importance. God always hears our prayers. We need to be sure to listen to His answers.
Within the novel there is the theme of loss. Even though we know our loved one is with Jesus, we can still miss them and feel sad that we can no longer see them.
A Royal Christmas Wedding has all the elements that make for a totally delightful read – a handsome hero, a beautiful heroine, a lavish setting and a tension in the story. Rachel Hauck’s writings are far deeper than just a surface read. Her writings contain God’s truths and show His love for us.
I urge you to pick up a copy. It is a delightful read at any time of year. Read just the fairytale story or dig deeper and discover the God who loves you. The choice is yours.
