New Beginnings by Pamela Jo

Freedom To Forgive

New BeginningsNew Beginnings by Pamela Jo is book number one in the Sands of Time series. It is a contemporary Amish novella.

Victoria is fighting her memories. They have haunted her daily for years. She is “in a prison of my own regrets.” Pamela Jo demonstrates how unless we deal with our past, it has the ability to ruin our present and our future.

Tied in to Victoria’s memories is the theme of guilt and forgiveness. Victoria is struggling to forgive the face in the mirror. In her own strength she is powerless. She needs God but is not sure if He is even there.

Pamela Jo explores the theme of success. What does it look like? Victoria’s idea of success changes during the novella. “After everything I went through to achieve success, I realised it wasn’t even important to begin with.”

Victoria meets Rebecca, a young Amish woman who leads a simple life. Rebecca has very little in the way of worldly goods but appears to have it all. Rebecca knows God. Pamela Jo demonstrates that knowing God does not mean that troubles will never come. Knowing and trusting God means that when tough times come, you can be confident that God will guide you through.

In New Beginnings Pamela Jo shows how it is possible for everyone to have a new beginning, no matter how old you are or what you’ve done. When a person says yes to Jesus for the very first time, the old is gone, the new is here. On the surface nothing about one’s life has changed but inside everything is transformed.

I enjoyed New Beginnings. It was perfect for an afternoon’s read.

  1. Thank you for the great review! Oh, how blessed we are that with each day God gives us a new sunrise. A do-over day to accomplish what we didn’t finish or a new beginning. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. “Pamela Jo demonstrates how unless we deal with our past, it has the ability to ruin our present and our future.”
Sounds like a great book for ministry, exciting, and with hope for those with pasts they regret. Would love to read.
