Learning To Forgive

Ranch Feud by Sarah Sawyer is a historical Christian western and the fifth book in the Doc Beck Western series but can be read as a stand-alone.

I enjoyed catching up with familiar characters. I love the close bond between Doc Beck and Just Jimmy whose friendship blossoms as Doc Beck takes him under her wing.

There is a kindness of heart as situations begin to heal.

Forgiveness is a major theme. “Forgiveness is simple. It’s just not easy.” If we cannot forgive in our strength, we need to press into God and lean on Him and forgive with His strength. Sometimes it is forgiving the face in the mirror that is the hardest to do. At other times long held feuds have promoted bitterness that is hard to shed. When we forgive, we begin to heal.

Coming Home

Desert Captive by Sarah Sawyer is an exciting Christian historical western. It is the fourth book in the Doc Beck Western series. I recommend reading the previous books first to witness character progression.

The story is mainly set in a town ruled by bandits. Given the history of the town, the reader is reminded of the Garden of Eden – it was created perfect but then sin entered and corrupted lives.

We see pockets of kindness and normality within the corruption.

There is a beautiful bond between humans and animals.

Uncovering The Truth

Grave Robbers by Sarah Sawyer is a historical western and the third book in the Doc Beck series. I recommend reading books one and two first for consistency of characters and linear plot progression.

Once more there is the delightful and loyal partnership of Doc Beck and Just Jimmy. The banter with the air of fun continues. “God seems to have me in places where I hear things I need to hear.” The pair have an unbreakable bond and look out for each other.

Doc Beck is determined to get to the truth, in contrast to others who sweep it under the carpet. She believes in justice for all, and for the murder not to be pinned on the wrong villain. She is courageous in her pursuit of the truth. Although I must admit I was surprised at the lengths to which she would go.

Exciting

Mission Bandits by Sarah Sawyer is an exciting historical Christian novella and the second book in the Doc Beck Western series. It can be read as a stand-alone.

The beautiful bond of loyalty between Doc Beck and her side-kick Just Jimmy continues. I love their banter which deepens and cements their relationship.

In spite of the seriousness of the situation, there are some amusing moments to give light relief.
