loveRisking Love by Brenda Anderson is a beautiful contemporary Christian romance. It is the first book in the Where The Heart Is series and I loved it.

I always love Brenda Anderson’s novels. They are beautifully written with God at the centre. Risking Love is an intricate love story with very realistic and likable characters. The battles and struggles they face are easy to empathise with. They tug at the readers heart. Lissa is a wonderful leading lady – full of character traits that just spoke to my soul. I could see myself in her as I too am risk adverse. Caleb was the perfect leading man – rugged, good looking, adventurous and kind. The supporting characters of Haven, Abigail and two year old Aimee were all perfect in their roles. Brenda Anderson had delightfully captured a two year old in Aimee with her speech and mannerisms.

Chain Of Mercy by Brenda Anderson

ChainChain of Mercy by Brenda Anderson is a wonderful contemporary Christian romantic novel. It is the first book in the Coming Home series and wow what a series it promises to be. There is just so much in Chain Of Mercy – a fabulous storyline, numerous themes, and a novel that honours God. It is hard to know where to start.

God is very much at the heart of the novel. God is faithful. We may move away from Him but He will never move away from us. Sometimes we use our busyness as an excuse and we drift away from God. “Being busy always kept God at bay.” God will wait in the shadows, waiting lovingly for us to return.

The novel shows the need for grace. We all need grace. And we all need to extend grace. We have all sinned  but there is no condemnation from Jesus, just love and grace.

Hungry-for-HomeHungry For Home by Brenda Anderson is the third and final book in the Coming Home series. It can also be read as a stand-alone. It was a cracking end to the series, and a very compulsive read. I felt like I was saying goodbye to dear friends as opposed to finishing a novel.

Brenda Anderson clearly demonstrates her passion for some of today’s teenager’s problems. The novel deals with the themes of teenage homelessness which may lead to crime for desperate and hungry youngsters. As well as teenage pregnancy and the resulting pressures and problems that are associated with that. She opens the eyes of the reader to these needs in society which pricks ones conscience as the reader wonders what they can do to help.

Hungry For Home also deals with the theme of families. Some people are fortunate to be born into a loving family, others are not. Various problems may exist within blood families, but a family does not have to be made up of blood relatives. A family can be made up of people who love each other, care for each other, and who open up their homes and their hearts to others. Brenda Anderson shows families within the novel reaching out and offering grace to people who at first glance may seem undeserving. Within God’s family we are all offered grace, and as members of God’s family we are to never judge one another but we must dispense love and grace at all times. No-one is more or less deserving than anyone else. We are all equal.
