The Wedding List by Autumn Macarthur

A Gift From God

The Wedding List by Autumn Macarthur  is a delightful contemporary Christian tale and part of the Love In Store series but can be read as a stand-alone. It is also in a three-book set entitled Three Weddings.

We witness the power of past hurts to continue to impact present lives. Cruel words spoken cannot be ‘unheard’ or forgotten. We need to learn to give our hurts up to God and move forwards into the future.

There is the theme of trust. We need to be able to trust others and ourselves. We recognize that “sometimes trusting God was the hardest thing to do.” This is where faith and trust sit side by side. If we have faith, we know we can trust God no matter what our circumstances tell us. Just because we cannot see God working does not mean He isn’t. “God wanted her to trust Him.”

We witness pure love within the novel. It is a love that says I love you for who you are and not for what you can do for me.

In contrast we witness lives ruled by power, status and wealth where networking is the order of the day. This builds very shaky foundations for lives. Riches beyond measure are always to be found in love. Judgements are made on class rather than the capacity to love by some characters.

The Wedding List was a positively charming read.

I received a free copy from the author. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
