The Start Of Us by T.K. Chapin

The Power of Love

The Start Of Us by T.K. Chapin is a powerful contemporary Christian novel about love. Love comes in many different forms but we have only one word for it, ‘love.’ The best way to love is to love like Jesus – whether it’s our parents, friends, work colleagues or spouse. We need to see people as Jesus sees them – imperfect human beings in need of love and grace.

Our past may have been hard but we cannot let it define us. If we measure everything by the yardstick of the past, we will miss out on the present.

T.K. Chapin has created a marvellous set of unique characters. They have their flaws and this serves to make them realistic. We are all sinful human beings in need of a Saviour. If we go through life fixing our eyes on Jesus, we will not go far wrong.

T.K. Chapin always writes about relevant issues – marriages in trouble, cancer, learning to trust, and the need for God in our lives, all feature in the story. Life can be hard and T.K. Chapin is not afraid to tackle gritty themes.

As with all his books, T.K. Chapin honours God. There is much scripture quoted and applied to lives. He shows the need we all have for God and to place Him at the centre of our lives. “God doesn’t want to control us. He wants our hearts.”

A very powerful and at times heart-wrenching read.

I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
