Wish You Joy by Jan Thompson

Come Home

Wish You Joy by Jan Thompson is a delightful Christian romance set around the theme of Christmas but is perfect for any time of year. It is the ninth book in the Savannah Sweethearts series but can be read as a stand-alone.

We should carry Christmas in our hearts all year round because the focus of Christmas should be Jesus. He should be at the centre of our lives. Christmas has become far too commercialised. “Let’s claim it [Christmas] back for Christ.”

Life may be tough but some burdens were never ours to carry. We need to surrender them to God. “I carry the burden no more… He [God] is able.” God’s shoulders are big enough to carry whatever we give Him.

We make our plans but if we do not do life ion partnership we God, we are labouring in vain. “I surrender… to You to do as You please.” When we follow God’s plans for our lives, we receive a peace like no other.

The novel has the theme of family. Families may be messy, complicated affairs. We may be adopted or the result of an affair but we need to know “God made you… no matter who your parents are.” God knew us before we were born. Our heavenly Father can be trusted.

There are themes of forgiveness and reconciliation. We need to forgive or life will weigh us down. Forgiveness is cleansing and healing. Within the novel there is healing of both mind and body.

Names are important. Our name says a lot about who we are but more importantly I am who God says I am. Shortened names show that we are willing to let others into our circle. We feel comfortable around them.

I really loved Wish You Joy. Jan Thompson always produces wonderful feel-good stories with strong messages of hope and the love of God. A most delightful story.

I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
