Treasured Grace by Tracie Peterson

Finally Free

Treasured Grace by Tracie Peterson is a marvellous Christian historical romance. It is the start of the Heart Of The Frontier series and what a cracking read that promises to be.

Set in 1847, Tracie Peterson has incorporated the Whitman Mission massacre into her work of fiction. This does not make for easy reading but history is not always kind. We need to learn from history in the hope of not repeating it.

The novel highlights the tensions between the Native Americans and the white settlers. Fear brings hostility. Some on both sides are unable to see past the colour of a person’s skin. Others realise a man’s worth is in their character. “He was… a good hearted man who cared about people no matter their colour.”

A Heart Restored by Elizabeth Maddrey

Fully Rely On God

A Heart Restored by Elizabeth Maddrey is a wonderful Christian romance. It is the first book in the Peacock Hill Romance series and I cannot wait for the rest of the books.

Elizabeth Maddrey always writes charming stories that are grounded in God. A Heart Restored explores relationship with God. Sometimes life intervenes and we push God away. “She and God hadn’t been on speaking terms.” It is hard to trust God when life seems to be falling apart but He always has our best interests at heart.

Relationships work best when we communicate and are honest – with others, with God and with ourselves. We need to be sure to listen too. “You’ll hear God more clearly if you’re working on your relationship with Him.” That means praying, listening and going to church where we can meet with a body of believers that will help in our journey. Relationship with God is not about being a Sunday Christian but about including Him in every aspect of our lives.

Ice On The Bay by Dale and Kathleen Lehman

Gripping

Ice On The Bay by Dale and Kathleen Lehman is a marvellous contemporary murder suspense. It is the third book in the Howard County Mystery series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Once again the reader is in for a gripping ride in this compulsive read. The police officers work together to get the job done. They remind me of the three musketeers with their dedication and their loyalty to each other.

A cold case collides with present day crimes of murder, blackmail, arson and burglary. The cases run side by side as the reader tries to guess the connection, if any. Literally a jaw dropping ending that had me hooked and reading with heart racing.

A Pug Like Percy by Fiona Harrison

Wrapped Round His Paws

A Pug Like Percy by Fiona Harrison is the most delightful contemporary novel. I just could not put it down. Written from the point of view of Percy, the reader soon settles into the doggy way of thinking – all Percy wants is a happy ever after family. The same can be said of the humans in the story too.

Percy doubts himself after being passed over in the shelter. “Was I unlovable?” He has friends that speak life into his situation and build him up.

Friends and family are vital to us all. Percy does all he can to bring happiness to his family. “It’s not our job to understand, ours is to be there when our owners need us.”

The novel is about a family in crisis. As a child’s health deteriorates, the stress puts a strain on the family. Couples need to remember why they fell in love to begin with but in the worry, they lose sight of life.
