A Pug Like Percy by Fiona Harrison is the most delightful contemporary novel. I just could not put it down. Written from the point of view of Percy, the reader soon settles into the doggy way of thinking – all Percy wants is a happy ever after family. The same can be said of the humans in the story too.

Percy doubts himself after being passed over in the shelter. “Was I unlovable?” He has friends that speak life into his situation and build him up.

Friends and family are vital to us all. Percy does all he can to bring happiness to his family. “It’s not our job to understand, ours is to be there when our owners need us.”

The novel is about a family in crisis. As a child’s health deteriorates, the stress puts a strain on the family. Couples need to remember why they fell in love to begin with but in the worry, they lose sight of life.
