A Second Chance by Alexis A Goring

Delightful

A Second Chance by Alexis A Goring is a delightful contemporary Christian romance which I really enjoyed.

The novel has the themes of faith and trust. Being hurt in the past raises trust issues. This hurt has erected a barrier between individuals and between God. God, who should have prevented the hurt, or so it is believed. However being a Christian does not make us immune to bad things but when they happen we know we have God who walks beside us and who has promised to never leave us. God wants us to have faith and trust His plans for our lives.

There is the subject of loss. Grief can be raw for months and years after losing loved ones. Time and compassion are needed to heal.

Family is important. “Family comes first.” There are two very warm families within the story. The reader ‘feels’ their love radiating out.

There is the theme of healing… physical, spiritual and mental. Time can only heal so much. God can heal everything in His way, in His timing.

A major theme is that of forgiveness. Past hurts can put up road blocks to forgiveness and these need to be torn down. We need to forgive before we can move forwards into the future God has planned for us.

I absolutely loved A Second Chance. It was delightfully warm and welcoming. I found myself ‘living’ the action alongside the characters.

A perfect afternoon’s read.

I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
