The main theme is dreams. When God places a dream in your heart, we can hold on with hope that it will materialise.

Family is important. Family members pull together at all times.

Appearances are not as important as the state of our heart. “See past a man’s looks to his personality and heart.”

Loss consumes. Time does not heal but “everything’s going to be okay God’s got this.” Whatever we face, God walks alongside us.

A Second Chance by Alexis A Goring is a delightful contemporary Christian romance which I really enjoyed.

The novel has the themes of faith and trust. Being hurt in the past raises trust issues. This hurt has erected a barrier between individuals and between God. God, who should have prevented the hurt, or so it is believed. However being a Christian does not make us immune to bad things but when they happen we know we have God who walks beside us and who has promised to never leave us. God wants us to have faith and trust His plans for our lives.

There is the subject of loss. Grief can be raw for months and years after losing loved ones. Time and compassion are needed to heal.
