God is at the centre of the story. His promises are to be trusted. “God You promised me.” If God has said it will happen, then it will. Audra trusts God but cannot wait on His timing and the feisty female takes things into her own hands.
God’s presence in one’s life means that in the midst of life’s storms, peace can be found. “He found her peace…calming.” When we have a strong faith in God on the inside, this can be seen externally too.
The novella challenges the traditional male/female roles. Audra is very much a modern, strong woman. Leading man Dillon is no wimp but finds he has to prove this.
There is the theme of ‘where your heart is, there is your treasure.’ What is more important… people or property? Audra’s treasure is misplaced at first. Can anything be done to change her heart’s desire?
This theme is linked to the theme of earthly and heavenly treasures. Property, money, fame mean nothing in God’s kingdom. It is people who matter to Him.
This is a very charming novella and just perfect for an afternoon’s read.
