Love Conquers All
The Bedwarmer’s Son by Caryl McAdoo is a Christian historical romance. The action is split between 1928 and the middle of the nineteenth century, as the reader uncovers an old man’s childhood.
The novel covers several topics including that of being a slave or free, and the divide between black and white America. Inspite of the Civil War giving slaves their freedom, racial prejudice continued. The novel shows how wrong this is.
God is of utmost importance. Belief in Him can sustain people through the most horrendous circumstances. There is a peace of God that can calm a person who has a close relationship with God. It can get them through life.
Belief in God is open to all. Salvation can happen at any stage of life. No-one ever knows what happens at the point of death. It is never too late to say ‘yes’ to God.
There is power in dreams. God spoke to Joseph in a dream. God can speak through dreams today.
The theme of family is important. Family can hold people together. Blood ties are too important to lose.
I really enjoyed The Bedwarmer’s Son, it was a cracking start to a new series. I loved the way Caryl McAdoo weaves characters from her previous novels into this novel. I can highly recommend it.
I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.
