My Guardian Dear by Brittany Druker

Belief & Prayer

My Guardian Dear by Brittany Druker is a wonderful little book for children aged 4 – 10 years-old. It is a book that is full of faith and hope as it talks about our guardian angel always being with us.

We learn that “Angels help anyone who asks for relief.” Our guardian angel is literally just a prayer away. Whether we can ‘see’ our guardian angel or not, he is always with us as we walk through life.

If it concerns us, it concerns our guardian angel. The little lad in the book prays for help at his ball game.

The whole book is very colourful as it is simply but powerfully illustrated by Justin Dunn.

My Guardian Dear will appeal to young children with its’ colourful pages and its’ simple, yet profound message.

My Guardian Dear would enhance any child’s personal library.

I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

An Interview with

B Druker

  1. What inspired you to write “My Guardian Dear”? How did the story come to be?

My faith inspires me to share fun relatable stories that showcase human connection specifically through belief and prayer.  The collectible angel prayer cards were incredibly fun to create. They are inspired by traditional mass/prayer cards and modern sports/collectible trading cards—offering a fresh take on a collectible angel prayer card designed to inspire kids to pray and share their belief!

  1. Can you share more about the mission behind “My Guardian Dear”?

My Guardian Dear hopes to inspire kids to connect with each other by sharing belief, prayer, and gratitude for the angels in their lives.

  1. As a mother of three children, did they inspire any of the characters in your book?

100 percent yes, each of them is reflected in a way.  They are my hiVe5–we are a family of 5, and the environment we have created together allows such fun creativity to flourish. Family is one of my core values and they continuously root me back into a connected mindset + heart;  a place where all of my favorite stories + ideas flow come to life. For a little lore: Our dog, Honey Bear, and my daughter’s beloved stuffed hippo make an appearance on the book’s pages.

  1. Personally, we love the DIY trading cards that are shared in each book! Can you tell us more about them? What inspired you to add those?

The cards are special and unique to hiVe5—a vivid remix of a traditional prayer card and a high-end sports collectible card. The My Guardian Dear Belief cards spark interest through vivid illustration, modern angel character, and timeless prayer.  We set out to create an exciting and interesting pathway to encourage kids to share prayer and thank the angels in their lives…which is why we included not 1 but 3 cards; One to keep and 2 to share with the angels in your life! The shiny holographic card is intended as a keepsake to learn and say the prayer and two full color cards are ready to be shared, mailed, traded–to say the prayer + think of your angels, anywhere! A simple way for kids to connect, show their gratitude + share belief.

In our modern world, how cool would it be to get a letter from a friend with an angel enclosed?  It’s sure to brighten anyone’s day and it can be as simple as sending an included angel card on its way.  Our hiVe5 hopes that kids everywhere enjoy the cards, say their words, and share the extra cards with the special people that give them love and support–the true MVPs + angels in their lives.

  1. What do you hope your books will inspire? What do you hope that your children and parent readers will learn from this story?

Connection through shared belief! We hope readers enjoy learning and sharing the prayer with others.  We also hope they can imagine, recognize, and THANK the angels in their lives–through all seasons.

  1. You recently founded the brand HiVe5 that was inspired by your family and your faith. What is the goal of HiVe5, especially in relation to your book?

Connection! Human-to-human connection and providing kids a springboard to practice sharing faith and creativity.   This first book from the brand, “My Guardian Dear,” is what HiVe5 hopes will be the beginning of sharing faith and connecting through buzzing stories and practiced faith.  We also hope kids are inspired to connect with others: write letters to friends, draw, and create to share stories and thank people in their lives.  I hope others are inspired to write to their friends and share their prayer cards with someone they love and care about.  Sharing prayer cards for trading and sharing belief.  It’s a culmination of my values—God, family, and service—driving me to share this path for kids to connect and create without a screen or artificial interface.

  1. Are you planning to write any other books in the future?

YES, this is the first of a planned Belief collection!  Stay tuned for more from HiVe5.
