Rosie’s Little Cafe On The Riviera by Jennifer Bohnet

A Fun Read

Rosie’s Little Cafe On The Riviera by Jennifer Bohnet is a delightful light hearted and fun contemporary read. Set on the Riviera in the summer, there is a wonderful blend of sea, sun, sand and romance and I loved it.

There are the themes of roots and belonging. Sometimes the past is a scary place to visit but it needs to be laid to rest in order to pursue the rest of one’s life.

Families are made up of all sorts of different members. Sometimes they fall out but ultimately blood ties bind.

There is the topic of grief. Losses are uniquely felt but the empty space at the table always equals pain in one’s heart.

Bitter Eyes No More by April W Gardner

A New Name

Bitter Eyes No More by April W Gardner is a Christian historical adventure. It is the fourth book in the Creek Country Saga but can be read as a stand-alone. It is an epic tale and swash buckling adventure that both educates and entertains. and I enjoyed it.

Bitter Eyes No More is set in Spanish Florida in 1817. It documents the struggles between the Spanish, Americans and the native Americans. It was indeed a time of unrest. Through April Gardner’s detailed descriptions, the reader is transported two centuries back through time. The highs and lows, the fear, the elation can all be experienced by the reader.

Home At Last by Deborah Raney

Precious In His Sight

Home At Last by Deborah Raney is a contemporary Christian romance and the fifth book in the Chicory Inn series but can be read as a stand-alone. It has been a marvellous series and I have really enjoyed it. It has been wonderful to follow the fortunes of the Whitman family siblings throughout.

The novel has a wonderful air of concern and kindness that permeates throughout. The reader can ‘feel’ the love that extends through the families in the book. As a parent I can identify with the feelings of Shay’s father. His need to protect, even though his daughter is in her thirties. One never stops being a parent.
