A Real Gem
A Romance For Rose by Marion Ueckermann is the most delightful contemporary romance. It is the second book in the Seven Suitors For Seven Sisters series but can be read as a stand-alone.
It is a wonderful warm wrap around story that will leave you with a smile on your face and speak to your heart. The settings are lavishly described and as the reader moves from London to Tuscany it feels more like ‘walking’ through the novel than reading it.
Marion Ueckermann’s characters are well rounded and likable. It was good to meet up with familiar faces. The story is written in the third person from the alternating viewpoints of Joseph and Rose. The reader becomes intimately acquainted with both.
Marion Ueckermann shows the importance of having God in our lives. Knowing Him and praying to Him can get us through all situations. “With God’s help she could get through this.” Marion Ueckermann reveals that God desires a relationship with us. He does not want our fancy prayers. He wants our heart and our honesty.
This theme of the truth continues throughout the novel. Secrets can easily become burdens. Burdens can drag us down and destroy us. The antidote is to tell the truth and release those secrets and let peace begin to reign. Marion Ueckermann teases her readers with hints that characters are harbouring secrets. This reader tried to guess what the secrets were but failed! And that is the sign of a great author when I fail to predict the outcome.
There are the twin themes of forgiveness and grace within the story. These go hand in hand. We have to forgive because we have been forgiven. We receive the gift of grace. We do not earn it. We do not deserve it and yet God freely gives his gift of grace to us. Likewise we must extend grace to those in need of it.
I absolutely adore Marion Ueckermann’s novels. Each one speaks straight to my heart. A Romance For Rose is a real gem of a novel. I can highly recommend all of Marion Ueckermann’s writings. Do not miss out… read A Romance For Rose today.
