One Of The Few by Jason B Ladd

Transforming Lives

OneOne Of The Few by Jason B Ladd is Christian non-fiction. It is an amazing book as Jason Ladd unpacks Christianity and reveals his journey as he moved “from apathy to inquiry.” Within the book Jason Ladd covers topics such as suffering, evil, porn, faith, belief, going to church and much more. One Of The Few really is a comprehensive guide to the Christian faith that will appeal to both Christians and those searching for the answer to the question “Do you know what you believe?”

Jason Ladd is a U.S. Marine. Within his book he explains life as a marine and the parallels with the Christian faith. Jason Ladd did not grow up in a Christian family. As a marine he asked the question “Why would a good person like me need Jesus?” Everyone needs Jesus. He is not a crutch for the weak. He is the Saviour of the world. Jason Ladd believes as much as he was seeking God, “God was seeking me.”

Service Tails by Ace Collins

Loyal And Inspiring

ServiceService Tails by Ace Collins is an inspiring book with tales about service dogs. Service dogs are not just working dogs, they are loyal companions who really do go the extra mile.

Before service dogs, some people with disabilities were unable to live full lives, being trapped within their own four walls. A service dog opens up lives to new possibilities. “You are not tied to the dog, you are freed by it.” For the blind, their dogs are their eyes, steering them out of danger.

All the dogs mentioned really seem to possess a sixth sense when it comes to their owners and impending danger. They really are life savers, with one dog literally giving his life for his owners. “She was there to offer love and service.”

Glasgow Grace by Marion Ueckermann

The Angel Of Music

GlasgowGlasgow Grace by Marion Ueckermann is a delightfully romantic Christian novel. It is set in Scotland over the Christmas and New Year period and I loved it.

The novel has beautiful descriptions of the places where the action takes place. For me, memories of  Skye and Portree are evoked. It was fabulous to read of places where I had been. For anyone who lives or has holidayed in Scotland, Glasgow Grace will unleash your own memories.

Glasgow Grace has the theme of true love as described in 1 Corinthians: 13. True love includes not only a couple but God too. True love is kind and considerate. True love will last no matter what life throws at you.

One Friday Afternoon by T K Chapin

As For Me And My House

FridayOne Friday Afternoon by T K Chapin is a contemporary Christian romance and the second book in the Diamond Lake series. It can be read as a stand-alone.

The main theme of the novel is our need to trust God and to have faith. We need to make God a priority in our lives. We do not serve a God only to be taken out on Sundays and then packed away for six days. We serve a God who wants to be a part of our whole lives. Trusting God is not like trusting man. God will never let you down.

The novel shows the danger that money and feeling comfortable can have on our relationship with God. “After Nathan began making more money in life, my prayers slowed and my reliance on God dwindles too.” No-one ever wakes up and decides to move away from God. “It’s a slow fade.” As our lives become more comfortable, our reliance on God may diminishes as we prefer to lean on ourselves and our money and possessions.
