Transformation And Restoration
The New Rulebook 3 by Joy Ohagwu is a contemporary Christian thriller and the final book in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone.
There are many themes within the novel, a major one is forgiveness. Forgiveness is often hard to do when one has been wronged and is still being wronged. However unforgiveness will keep us trapped in the past. Sometimes we need God’s help to forgive others. Likewise it can be hard to receive forgiveness. Sometimes our sins just feel too bad. “You’ve done horrible things and it’s too late for you.” No-one is ever beyond the reach of God. Jesus went to the cross for all our sins. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
God is in the business of restoring lives and repaying back the years that the locusts have stolen. “God not only uses broken people, He seeks them out.” Joy Ohagwu explores this theme within the novel.
Prayer is of vital importance and so is obedience to God. “Pray… he obeyed God.” When God speaks, it is essential that we hear and obey. Our lives may even depend on it.
Marriage is not just between two people, it must include God. Consulting God in prayer is one way of investing in your marriage. “One could never pray too much about their marriage.”
Joy Ohagwu shows that Christians who put their faith and trust in God, have hope. When fear surrounds us, we need to remember that God is bigger than our fears. “She wouldn’t lose her hope to fear.” Focusing on God means you can face anything. “With God on our side, we will overcome.”
Joy Ohagwu demonstrates that a good grounding in God will re-surface when one least expects it. Life is more than what we see. We are in a spiritual battle. Sometimes this manifests as a battle within. Surrendering one’s life to Jesus will always bring freedom.
I have really enjoyed The New Rulebook series. Joy Ohagwu has created some likeable characters and an intricate plotline. It’s been a real treat to read the books.
I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.
