Somebody Someday by Joye Holmes

Heart Breaking And Inspiring

Somebody Someday by Joye Holmes – wow what an incredibly powerful and emotional book about the twenty plus years friendship of housewife Joye and homeless Butch.

This book will make you smile and your heart will swell with love as Butch, who owns nothing is so rich in his love and care for others. It broke my heart to read “All I ever wanted was to be loved and God put you in my life” – wow, such a simple request. How many other people just want the love of another? Everyone deserves to be loved.

Butch’s story will tear your heart in two as he openly says he was unwanted as he was conceived out of wedlock. He is also deaf from the age of ten due to abuse. This poor man has known so much unkindness and yet his heart is still swollen with love for others. He gives out of the little he has. He reminds me of the widow’s mite. Butch has a huge heart.

Somebody Someday is a selection of letters over the years from Butch to Joye. After each letter Joye Holmes gives her feelings and background at the time. Her words will have the reader examining our own hearts and motivations.

The church is supposed to be the body of Christ. I could have wept as I read Butch’s words “He [grandfather] went to church one time and they made fun of him and he never went again.” How dare we misrepresent Jesus to those who are seeking Him. My hope and prayer is that we can all become the eyes and ears, the hands and feet of Jesus to a hurting world.

I loved the inclusion of photos so we could see Butch and Joye. It is good to be able to put a faces to names.

Thank you Joye Holmes for sharing your remarkable friendship with Butch. May God richly bless you, all your family and of course Butch.

I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
