Fateful Fall by Erin Unger

Racing Hearts

FatefulFateful Fall by Erin Unger is a Christian contemporary murder mystery and the first book in the Worthington Detective Agency series. It is a compulsive read and one that will have your heart racing as the book reaches its conclusion.

The novel has several themes including new beginnings. Everyone has a past but when they come to Jesus, they are a new creation, the old has gone. In Jesus’ eyes they are worthy and loved.

This theme links in with the theme of forgiveness. “Would God think he was worth forgiving?” Often the hardest person to forgive is ourselves. We need to deal with the past, realise we are forgiven and move into the future.

The novel also deals with the emotion of hate. Hate can completely consume a person. Hatred will eat a person up and motivate them to do horrendous things. Sometimes there really is such a thing as pure evil. The reader is reminded that our battle is not just against what we can see but a spiritual battle against the powers of darkness.

In contrast to the hatred, there is God. God is central in the lives of some of the characters. Their actions are motivated by Him and they turn to Him in prayer.

There is the theme of self worth. One of the characters finds their self worth in their actions. They feel happy if they are praised but miserable if they are not. A person’s self worth is not to be found in works but in God, who loves each and every one of us.

Fateful Fall was a cracking murder mystery. There were twists and turns along the way and the ending was impossible to predict. The Worthington Detective Agency is going to be a fabulous series.
I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.  No monetary compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.
