You Too by Katharine Light is a comprehensive contemporary book that I enjoyed. It is the third book in the Millingham series but can be read as a stand-alone.
This is a book about friends and families as we join a group of friends who met at school and are now all approaching forty. They have a shared past. They know things about each other that no one else knows.
With biological clocks all ticking, four of the friends are pregnant – for some it’s their first babies, for others they already ave children.
There are many different types of families… some are blended families, others are hiding who they really are, and for some it’s the relationship they should have had years ago as friendship blossoms into more. For all of them there are choppy waters to navigate.
Fear has held characters back from confessing their love. “Who taught you you’re not lovable?” The roots to insecurities lie in childhood.
We witness the chaos of a blended family with many children ranging from small to teens. It is a hectic pace of life juggling the various needs.
Children believe adults are sorted but nothing could be further from the truth. “Not all adults have things sorted… sometimes things just happen and sometimes things are complicated.”
The chapters alternate between the four lead characters. We get to know them intimately.
You Too is a tale of the past, present and future. We see how friends help each other to navigate the waters of life. Katharine Light writes in a very personable style which makes the whole book very relatable.
I received a free copy via Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
A word of caution: there were ‘bedroom’ scenes with far too much detail for me, so I just skipped over them. This did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. There may be others who want to skip scenes too.

Author Bio –
Katharine Light was born in Glasgow and lived there until her family moved to Manchester when she was ten. While in her teens, she began writing stories for her younger sister Emma. These mostly centred around a naïve heroine and a 1980s pop star (some would say the hero was modelled on John Taylor of Duran Duran).
She did a degree in psychology at University College London, and after a year travelling, worked in corporate film production for several years, before taking a break to raise her children.
For many years she wrote mainly during the holidays, around her busy work for a local church.
Her first novel Like Me, published in 2023, was shortlisted for The Selfies Book Awards 2024. Her short story My arms are empty which is based on an episode from her second novel Me Too recently won the City University competition City Writes.
She is a director of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, with responsibility for organising their conferences, gatherings and awards ceremonies.
Katharine lives in London with her husband and quite often at least one of their adult children. She loves singing, walking, painting, looking at art, and going to the theatre.
