The Intruders by Louise Jensen

Wow! Just Wow!

The Intruders by Louise Jensen is a simply marvellous psychological suspense that I just could not put down. This is a book that will make your heart race and the hairs on the back of your neck rise. It is definitely more than a little creepy.

Louise Jensen has constructed an intricate plotline that grabbed me from the start – we know that a family was murdered thirty years ago as the book opens but we do not know why or what was being sought.

The action weaves this way and that as we alternate between present day and thirty years in the past. We hear different voices in both the third and first person. Just as I thought I was piecing it all together – wham! The action veered off piste again! I clung on for dear life – after several twists and turns we sped towards the conclusion and all I can say is … Wow! Just wow! How Louise Jensen comes up with these fabulous stories time and time again is amazing.

I loved the literary device that the author used where the words at the end of one chapter were uttered at the beginning of the next but in a different context. This linked the past and present seamlessly.

From Now On by Amelia Henley

So Very Beautiful

From Now On by Amelia Henley is the most beautiful contemporary novel that totally consumed me. I never wanted it to end.

The novel is about love, loss and family. There are many different types of love – friendship, family, partner and more. Each one requires a step towards another, of making ourselves vulnerable to hurt. If we love deeply, we may hurt deeply too – but it is always worth giving love a chance.

The novel is also about loss. It is a loss that tears souls apart. It hurts. Each family member wades through grief and guilt. “He ate the cookie dough. He caused this and deserves to feel terrible forever.” So raw is the pain, that a character decides he must punish himself and withdraws from his passion and gift of musical talent.

Another character drowns in guilt because she was too busy to say a proper goodbye.

The Life We Almost Had by Amelia Henley

Love Will Find A Way

The Life We Almost Had by Amelia Henley is the most beautiful contemporary story about love.
There are many types of love. We witness a romantic love between a couple. Life is not always plain sailing but we see that love goes deep. We see a marriage that is strained at times by life but the love never weakens. It is a love that will never die.

Long lasting friendships produce love. That is a love that will drop everything to offer support in an hour of need.

Parental love goes deep. No matter how old our children are, we always want to heal their hearts and make life better for them.

The novel is also about dreams and about loss. Amelia Henley has written sensitively and beautifully and the pain of loss is tangible. You will need the tissues.

The Art Of Loving You by Amelia Henley

Not All Beer And Skittles

The Art Of Loving You by Amelia Henley is a simply beautiful story of love. It is a love that radiates throughout the novel, escaping to envelop the reader. It is a love that swoops up all in its embrace. And it is a love that will never die.

There is an eclectic mix of characters who are all in need of love – some have loved and lost, others have never been loved. One life unites all the characters. One life brings them all together. One life knows how to love well.

We see a sacrificial love – a love that always puts others before self. It is a life of love that leaves a fragrance of love in its awake.

The book is also a study of loss. “I don’t know who I am without him.” Loss hurts, consumes and makes us feel guilty for what we said or didn’t say.
